Acute enteritis

Acute enteritis is the inflammation of the small intestine. I is usually caused by bacteria or viral infections. Symptoms include diarrhea, nausea and abdominal cramping. Acute enteritis can be acquired by consuming contaminated food, therefore practicing proper hygiene during food preparation and eating can reduce the chances of contracting the disorder.

  • Diagnosis: Your physician will review your medical history and may perform tests to determine the cause of the enteritis.
  • Treatment: Medications are used to treat the infection. Patients will also be directed to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
