Gastritis

Gastritis is a term used to describe several different conditions that are characterized by an inflammation of the stomach lining. Gastritis can be caused by certain medications, excessive alcohol consumption, and certain diseases and bacteria infections including Helicobacter pylori ( H. pylori ). The most common symptoms include a burning sensation in the stomach, abdominal pain bloating, excessive gas, nausea and vomiting.

  • Diagnosis: Your physician will review your medical history and may test to see if you have a Helicobacter pylori infection.
  • Treatment: In many cases a change of medication or antibiotic treatment alleviate the disorder.
