Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), is a condition where a large amount of triglyceride and vacuoles fat accumulates in the cells of the liver of a person who is no t a heavy drinker. NAFDL can be caused by obesity, high cholesterol, and hypertension (elevated blood pressure).

  • Diagnosis: Fatty Liver Disease is diagnosed with a liver function blood test that examines the triglyceride levels. Your Bux-Mont physician will review your medical history and determine the underling cause of the condition.
  • Treatment: By addressing the root cause of the NAFDL, the condition can be reversed. So for instance, if the NAFDL is caused by hypertension, blood pressure medications will help to reverse the disorder.
